Very recently there has been an influx of great new music stemming from Birmingham. We’ve been given Peace, Troumaca, and now, Swim Deep.
There isn’t a huge amount to know about the lads. It’s typical case scenario, just some hometown lads making great music in their garage. However, this is the first time ever that I’ve been inclined to visit Birmingham.

Ready for the summer tune that you won’t be able to stop listening to? Doesn’t matter, it’s already here. Rudimental have teamed up with John Newman to produce this chase & status-a-like summer blast.
In short, it’s basically Four lads from Hackney hooking up with a kid from Leeds. Sounds glamorous, I know. Give it a try.

This week in the UK top 40, you can hear guitars.
Not a lot of them, admittedly, but this is a small step towards alternative music being heard in the public domain again. Alabama Shakes scored the number 3 slots with their debut album ‘Boys & Girls’, and with new single ‘We Are Young’, Fun. (Video above) managed to steal 7th from the grip of Chris ‘The Fists’ Brown.

Alt-J (∆ to friends) have blessed us with another off-kilter electronica-pop track. After much touring with Ghostpoet and Wild Beasts, the guys have now announced that their much anticipated debut album, ‘An Awesome Wave’, will be released at the end of May.
Start making a ∆ with your hands and brace yourself.

Ever wanted a Hollywood A-list celebrity to feel the same trivial annoyances that you and I feel? Ever wanted to see Donnie Darko stab a guy in Dalston? Can you imagine anything more satisfying than Jamie Randall (role Jake Gyllenhaal played in Love & Other Drugs - I never watched it, I just went on IMDB so I could lengthen this discription) going ape shit in East London for 8 minutes?
Check out the heartwarming new video from The Shoes for Time To Dance. -
Devin is East Coast America’s brand new export. Having spent the last week in the UK performing at The Roundhouse (supporting The Drums), performing R1 and 6Music sessions and selling out numerous small venues, Devin is well and truly affirming his position in the UK as a ‘One to Watch’.

Time for some hip-pop. One guy (Arron), a laptop, and a number of guest musicians (including his good lady on violin) have created a fantastic collaboration of synth based pop with a soulful edge.
Keep eyes/ears peeled for shows and tracks in the coming months.

Here we stand, in a world of musical despair, awaiting the arrival of the next something or other with a guitar in it (it must have a guitar) to save us all from the bombardment of soppy piano covers of songs that at one point we all actually liked, and that Pitbull chap telling us how fast his Lambo is. This is Jethro Fox and he might just be the bloody answer!
Jethro has arrived from the deepest darkest corner of Liverpool with his home recordings and his upbeat, implausibly catch pop tracks. Mr Fox is being seen as quite the abstruse character with the recent level of mystery surrounding this young fellow. When we know more, you’ll know more.
This week he released this video of a fantastic acoustic session for his ever growing cult following. Performed at Scandinavian Seaman’s Church in Liverpool and filmed by acclaimed video/production collective Lost In The Specific.
